Description

We will be birding the area around Soldiers Pass in Utah County in the pinyon juniper forests, along with the sage and upland grassland habitats. Participants will be expected to bring a vehicle that can drive on a dirt road, sedans should be okay, but a vehicle with some clearance is preferred. We will be looking for birds like Gray Vireo, Ash-throated Flycatcher, Gray Flycatcher, Black-throated Gray Warbler, Black-throated Sparrow, Sagebrush Sparrow, Juniper Titmouse, Long-billed Curlew, Common Nighthawk, Horned Lark, and many other species found in this habitat. Participants will need to do some walking on uneven ground, but for the most part, we will drive, park, get out, look, listen, walk around, and repeat. Carpooling and bringing a 2-way radio is encouraged.
