Description

Located on the outskirts of west Ogden off of 24th Street, Fort Buenaventura is a lovely location near Weber River for all kinds of birds on its 84 acres. The fort was the first permanent Anglo settlement in the Great Basin and provides well-established lawns and trees. This trip involves walking around the pond and birding along paths near the river. The large pond provides a stopover area for many gulls and waterfowl, and the surrounding trees and fields support many songbirds, owls, and other birds with close viewing opportunities. Depending on snowmelt, parts of the park may be flooded. Rain boots recommended to help access more of the area.
