Pre-Festival: Bird Fest Kick-Off Frary Peak Hike

Kick off Bird Fest 2025 with a bright and early morning hike up Frary Peak on Antelope Island!

Description New 2025

Kick off Bird Fest 2025 with a bright and early morning hike up Frary Peak on Antelope Island! Known as one of Davis County's most popular trails, Frary Peak offers advanced hikers a rewarding 6.6-mile out-and-back journey with a steady elevation gain (2,100 feet). At the summit (6582 feet), you'll be treated to breathtaking panoramic views of Salt Lake City, The Great Salt Lake, and the surrounding mountain ranges of Northern Utah. This trail is recommended for experienced hikers due to its length and elevation gain. Plan for an estimated 5–6 hours to complete the hike, as we’ll take breaks to explore and observe the riparian and mountain bird species along the way. If anyone spots a bird, we will stop to identify it. With camaraderie, great conversations, and a goal of spotting 30 species, this will be a challenging yet unforgettable hike!

*Ticket includes head net and park entry.

Good For: Hikers who can take on a strenuous half-day hike that promises both challenge and reward. Be sure to wear reliable hiking gear, including comfortable shoes or boots with excellent traction. Protect yourself from the elements with sunscreen, a hat to shield your face against the sun, and a bug hood or bug net jacket in areas where the gnats might be active. Staying hydrated is critical—bring as much water as you can comfortably carry to stay well-hydrated from start to finish (recommended minimum 2.5 liters of water). A good rule of thumb is to bring more water than you think you'll need. This hike is perfect for those looking for an escape from the stress of work or need a reason to play hooky!
